You can set up Sprout Studio to sync with your calendar. Go to Settings > Account & Branding > Users page, edit your profile (or the profile of the user who's calendar you are trying to sync) to configure your settings. There are two ways to integrate your calendar with Sprout:
- Incoming, which allows Sprout to read your existing external calendar.
- Outgoing, which allows you to see your Sprout calendar on your existing calendar.
How to allow Sprout to read your existing Google calendar
Sprout can read your existing Google Calendar, which means it can check your availability when adding a new lead, shoot or date.
For example, if you have a meeting next Tuesday night from 6pm - 7pm and you get a new lead for a portrait session next Tuesday night, Sprout will show you that you may have a potential conflict.
To set up Sprout to read your Google Calendar, go to the Settings > Account & Branding > Users page, edit your profile (or the profile of the user who's calendar you are trying to sync) and click the Authorize Google Calendar button. Once you've authorized Sprout Studio to view your Google Calendars, you can toggle which specific Calendars should be looked at when checking availability by clicking Show Multi-Calendar Settings and clicking the menu under Configure Availability.
You can assign which Google Calendars are associated with which Sprout Calendars in the Configure Multi-Calendar section. This will tell Sprout which Calendar to assign your date to on your Google Calendar.
Just note that doing syncs both ways, so any changes done in Sprout will affect the dates on your Google Calendar and vice versa.
How to read your Sprout calendar outside of Sprout
Sprout automatically generates two calendar feeds for you:
- Leads, which contains all events and dates from your Sprout leads.
- Shoots, which contains all events and dates from your Sprout shoots.
- Unattached, which contains all of your stand alone dates from your calendar
You can subscribe to these calendar feeds in any calendar app (i.e. iCal, Outlook, etc.) so you can see your Sprout events outside of Sprout.
Go to the Settings > Account & Branding > Users page, edit your profile (or the profile of the user who's calendar you are trying to sync), and click the copy button beside the Leads, Shoots, or Unattached calendar feed links. You can now add these into your calendar app of choice. Alternatively, you can click on the feed link itself and it will add the feed to your computer's default calendar application.
It's important to note that these are read-only feeds; you will not be able to edit the events and dates in them on your desktop application, as Sprout automatically generates and updates them from within Sprout Studio.
