A Download password is a password-protected download that is only available to those who know the download password, just like a password. You can have as many download passwords as you'd like for any given gallery.
How to create a download password
To create a download password, navigate to the "Downloads" section when editing a gallery. Click "New Download Password" and give the password a label/name you will recognize, set the password, and select the download preset to be applied to this download. To create, edit or manage your Download Presets go to Settings > Galleries & Albums > Download Presets.
Make sure after you create your new Download Password that you toggle on the "All" to allow the entire download of the gallery, and the "Single" toggle to allow individual image downloads.
Example of using download passwords
Let's say you're a wedding photographer. Here's what you'd like to do:
You'd like to share the gallery with the venue where the wedding was held and let them download medium-resolution images individually for use on their website.
The florist asked you for some photos from the wedding to share on social media, so you'd like to be able to let her download individual medium-resolution images that are watermarked so she can pick which ones she shares on social media.
With a few clicks, you can do all of this in Sprout Studio galleries. Here's how:
Create a new download password with the password "venue", set the download preset to one you have created called "Medium-Resolution Un-watermarked".
Create a new download password with the password "florist," set the download preset to one you have created called "Medium-Resolution Watermarked."
From here all you have to do is send the vendors the link to the gallery and their passwords, and they will each be able to download images with the specified sizes and specifications you set.
